Christmas Painting for Toddlers

Using a paintbrush is a great way to work on those fine motor skills with your little ones.  This super easy craft was tons of fun and simple enough for even my youngest kids.

For this craft, I used:
Construction Paper
Markers
Paint
Paintbrushes in various sizes
Pom Balls or other decorations
Glue

1.  To start with, I drew a simple Christmas Tree shape for each child.

 2.  The kids then used the various paintbrushes to paint and decorate their trees.  While they were painting we reviewed the different colors and they had fun trying to mix brown for the trunk.  Encourage your older kids to stay in the lines of their tree.  This is a great challenge for those fine motor skills.

3.  After they finished painting, we glued pom pom balls on the tree for ornaments.  You could also use glitter, sequins, or any other material for this.  In the past, we've also used the star sponge brush to make a star for the top of the tree, but the little kids were ready to move on to another activity by that point :)

These would make cute trees for handmade Christmas cards.
