Local First of the Month Activities

It's my favorite time of the month. The first weekend usually brings with it local FREE activities for the kids. My husband uses this opportunity to take our two oldest boys out for some special "Daddy time" and I get to put the babies to bed early and enjoy some "Mommy time"!

Tonight, the boys will be headed off to the Shenandoah Valley Discovery Museum in Winchester for First Fridays.  In addition to other activities on the Downtown Walking Mall, the Discovery Museum opens FREE to the public from 5pm - 7:30pm.

If you're not in the mood to head to Winchester, you can always check out First Fridays in Downtown Charles Town.  The Golden Butter Band plays at 7pm at Evitts Run Park. Take a blanket and pick up dinner to go in one of the local restaurants or grab some ice cream from Skippers!

Tomorrow, the boys will be going to Home Depot for their Kids Workshop.  On the first Saturday of each month from 9am - noon, Home Depot offers a building workshop for kids.  It's a great opportunity for kids to build their skills and confidence by creating a project of their own.   This month, the boys will be making a moving truck.

  1. We start off early watching television and then envisioning our American dream. As a child, we play with our babies, doll houses, and writing in our diaries. We start at the tender age of 4 or 5 looking for our prince charming to marry. Over time, we replace our crushes of princes and other Disney characters with real boys. Sometimes it is the boy that sits next to you in class or a movie star. Either way, it is getting you ready for that all important task called LOVE.........
