Last Minute Gift - Turkey Soup Jars

I love these little jars because they make the perfect inexpensive gift for those who may not be able to have sweets this time of year. They're also easy to make in large quantities for all those wonderful people in your children's lives.

Today, the kids help me put together these jars, and they had so much fun measuring and smelling all of the spices. They especially enjoyed shaking the jars at the end to mix everything up!

Here's how we made them:

Ingredients:
1 cup uncooked fine egg noodles
1 1/2 tablespoons chicken-flavored bouillon (I was able to make 6 jars out of one 4 oz. container)
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon dried whole thyme
1/8 teaspoon celery seeds
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
1 bay leaf

1.  Combine all ingredients in a small mason jar.  We used half-pint jars and were just able to squeeze everything in.  By the way, I bought the jars when they were on clearance this Fall during canning season :)  I love a great deal!!

2.  To dress up the jars, I cut fabric circles out of red fabric and used the lids to secure them in place.

3.  Then I used Christmas ribbon to tie these instructions to the jar:

Turkey Noodle Soup:

1 package Turkey Noodle Soup Mix
8 cups water
2 carrots, diced
2 stalks celery, diced
1/4 cup minced onion
3 cups cooked diced turkey

Combine the Turkey Noodle Soup Mix and the water in a large stockpot. Add the carrots, celery and onion and bring to a boil. Cover the soup and reduce the heat to a simmer. Simmer for 15 minutes. Discard the bay leaf. Stir in the turkey and simmer an additional 5 minutes.
I was really pleased with how they turned out and I hope their recipients enjoy them as much as we enjoyed making them!

Thanks for stopping by!  I'd love to hear from you in the comments and have you join us back again!
